Named after its founder and creative director, Timothy Oulton is a British furniture and interiors company known for pushing the boundaries of furniture design.

Handcrafted using traditional methods and authentic materials, a creative collection of furniture, lighting and home accessories exudes the perfect balance of tradition and modernity, inspired by the past yet relevant for today.

A riot of different styles is encapsulated, offering an eclectic resource of unique pieces. From casual and ultra-slouchy to sleek urban living, from rugged and industrial to vintage-inspired glamour, a full spectrum is covered to suit a range of preferences. The versatile upholstery collection spans a wide array of finishes, from the most extreme hand-distressed leathers to sumptuously rich velvets and soft linens, with tables and cabinetry handcrafted in marble, crystalline acrylic, industrial-looking metals and reclaimed timber.

Every Timothy Oulton piece is meticulously made by hand using time-honoured techniques such as hand-carving, traditional joinery and hand-tufting. The company is renowned for its signature aniline-dyed leathers, which undergo several stages of complex hand-finishing to achieve their distinctive look and hand-feel.

The story of Timothy Oulton started back in 1976 with an antiques shop near Manchester, owned by Tim’s father, Major Philip Oulton. After leaving boarding school aged 18, Tim went to work for his dad, where he soon developed a passion for traditional craftsmanship and enduring design. Tim Oulton: “We have a point of view. There is character and soul to what we do. The materials we use, the link to heritage, the designs – that combination is unique.”

Timothy Oulton’s London galleries are located in Harrods department store in Knightsbridge and The Heal’s Building on Tottenham Court Road, two of the city’s most iconic furniture destinations. The company has over 40 galleries worldwide, from New York to L.A., Moscow, Hong Kong, Sydney and Johannesburg, and plans for further openings.

With a passion for creating inspiring spaces to give people a great experience, Timothy Oulton has completed hospitality projects around the globe. The company also works closely with interior designers and offers a Trade Professionals Program at Heal’s and Harrods, offering generous discounts and dedicated support throughout every stage of a project.
